This hymn, written by Robert Robinson (1735 -1790) expresses well the direction of our Lenten preparation. The opening lines summarize our hope and prayer that, through this season of Lent, our hearts would indeed be ‘tuned’ to sing the praise of God’s mercy and grace.

Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise His Name I’m fixed upon it
Name of God’s redeeming love.
Hitherto Thy love has blessed me
Thou has brought me to this place
And I know Thy hand will bring me
Safely home by Thy good grace
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
